Western Group of temples

The Western Group of Temples represents the finest expression of Chandela architecture and is the highlight of any visit to Khajuraho. Home to some of the most celebrated temples, the complex showcases intricate carvings depicting mythology, daily life, music, dance, and spiritual symbolism. The soaring shikharas (spires) create a striking skyline, especially during the soft light of the monsoon season. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the complex stands as one of the country's most extraordinary architectural treasures.

Aadivart Tribal and Folk Art Museum offers a fascinating introduction to the indigenous communities of Madhya Pradesh. Through thoughtfully curated galleries, it showcases tribal lifestyles, traditional homes, jewellery, masks, musical instruments, paintings, and ritual objects. The museum highlights the rich artistic traditions and cultural diversity of tribes such as the Gond, Bhil, Baiga, Sahariya, and Korku, providing valuable insight into their enduring customs, beliefs, and craftsmanship.

Kalinjar Fort

Kalinjar Fort

Kalinjar Fort rises dramatically atop the Vindhyan hills, commanding breathtaking views of the Bundelkhand plains. Among India's oldest continuously occupied forts, it is steeped in mythology, where Lord Shiva is believed to have consumed poison after the Samudra Manthan. A stronghold of the Chandelas, the fort is adorned with ancient temples, rock-cut sculptures, reservoirs, palaces, and massive gateways, bearing witness to centuries of battles, resilience, and architectural brilliance.

Trip itinerary




Day 1: Arrive at Khajuraho

Take a train and reach Khajuraho station by 14:20 hrs.

  - Check in at the hotel and freshen up and leave for first venture of the day.
  - We begin with the lesser visited group of temples in Southern (Duladeo and Chaturbhuj temples) and Eastern (Jain temples of Parsvanatha and Adinatha) Khajuraho.
  - Dive deep into the vibrant world of Central India's indigenous tribes at the AadivArt Tribal & Folk Art Museum.

Day 2: Day trip to Kalinjar Fort and Raneh Waterfalls

  - Early in the morning, leave for Kalinjar Fort (100 kms / 2.5 hrs)
 - Explore one of India's oldest and most formidable hill forts for first half.
 - Late lunch on way back. Post lunch, unwind at the majestic Raneh water falls, also called Niagra and Grand Canyon of India!
 - Reach Khajuraho, freshen up at hotel, and later in the day local Bundeli-style-dinner waits for you!

Day 3: Explore Khajuraho and bye-bye

 - Today we are up to explore the most visited and most elaborate of the temple groups in Western Khajuraho, including Kandariya Mahadeva, Lakshmana, and Vishvanatha temples.
  - Take your time to explore them at an easy pace, before we break for lunch
  - Back to hotel, have lunch and drop off at the station

During the monsoon months, the otherwise semi-arid countryside transforms into a vibrant expanse of lush greenery, with flowing waterfalls and rain-fed water bodies enhancing the area's natural beauty. The climate is typically tropical, with hot summers, a refreshing monsoon season from July to September, and pleasant winters that are ideal for exploration.

Packing List

Do carry adequate/suitable rain gear like raincoats/umbrellas, easy-to-dry clothes and good quality water-resistant floaters/shoes/slip-ons that have good grip on soles.

Each booking made and fully paid-up to us, is with the express and unambiguous understanding that you accept the below-mentioned cancellation policy. Cancellation over email to teamthebrownticket@gmail.com will be accepted as per following datelines.
- Less than 2 weeks before – NO REFUND
- 2 weeks before the trip date – 50% REFUND
In case of cancellation done by TBT, FULL REFUND will be processed.

* Any sudden increase in price due to any reason beyond our control like ‘Act of God’, floods, natural calamity, law and order situation, riots etc. and any forced change in itinerary for any unforeseen situations/reasons beyond our control, will be borne on expense-sharing basis by the clients.
* Please note that the above itinerary could see some re-arrangement based on ground realities, comfort of group members and weather conditions. Although the design flow of three days allows us to swap around and adjust the itinerary to cover the above elements as is envisaged..
